FAQ:
Which part do I play?
Please choose 1st, 2nd, or 3rd based on your comfort level. We have all of the primary parts covered within the wind ensemble, so you will be doubling no matter which part you select.
What if I play percussion?
Sleigh bells! Lots and lots of sleigh bells. You can provide your own, or if you fill out the registration form by 11/30, we will have some available for you to play.
What if I no longer own an instrument?
If you can find one to borrow from a friend or relative, that's ideal. But we do have a limited number of school instruments that can be checked out the night of the concert. It will be important for you to fill out the registration form by November 30 if you need an instrument so we can ensure inventory. If we can not accommodate you, we will contact you prior to the event.
You will be able to pick up your instrument at McNary between 4:30 and 5:30 the night of the event. You will need to leave your license as collateral. If you play a reed instrument, you will need to bring your own reed.
Is it okay if I'm out of practice?
Yes! If you haven't played in a long time, you might choose a lower part and maybe just play the passages where you feel confident. We want you to have this experience with us! The Wind Ensemble members will know the parts well and you can lean on their musicianship.
What should I wear for the concert?
The "base" uniform is all black. But students and alumni alike are encouraged to add reds, greens, bows, ribbons, santa hats, ugly Christmas sweaters, etc.
